Since July 2026 Connecticut requires anyone who does that to register with the Department of Consumer Protection and hand you a state disclosure form before you sign anything. If someone is knocking on your door, it is worth asking which one they are.
What to have handy
Nothing, really. The address is enough to start. It helps if you know roughly what is owed on it and whether anyone else is on the deed, but you do not need documents, photographs, or a cleaned-up house.
